A 16-year-old girl who went missing from her house on Monday was found dead in an agricultural well along the Nattarmangalam–Chettikulam road on Tuesday morning.

Police gave the name of the dead girl as B. Soundarya who had finished Class 11. Police sources said the girl’s mother reportedly chided her a couple of days ago for not studying well.

The girl who went missing a day later allegedly ended her life by jumping into the well, the police said. Her parents were informed that the girl was found dead and floating in an agricultural well.

The parents identified the body as that of their daughter. The Padalur police have registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
