George is Chennai police chief again

Additional Director-General of Police (Prisons) S. George is back as the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. A day after the Model Code of Conduct was withdrawn, the State government issued orders posting the 1984-batch IPS officer as the new Police Commissioner.

He replaces J.K. Tripathy, who has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Prisons.

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission ordered the transfer of Mr. George on April 7.
