Funds allocated for improvement of roads

The State government on Sunday allocated Rs.2,262.50 crore under the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme (CRIDP) to undertake various works such widening, improvement, construction of bypasses, and construction of bridges.

According to an official release, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered utilisation of Rs.903.80 crore from the total allocation of Rs.2,262.50 crore for widening of 248km length of intermediate lane State Highways to double lane, infrastructure development and upgrading of 895 km of single roads and renovation of 27 bridges and minor bridges.

Green parks

The government also ordered development of important roads in the Chennai to international standards. In the allocated fund, green parks would be created on the flyovers near the airport and Kathipara junction. The subways near Anna Statue, Shanthi Theatre and Thousand Lights would be beautified.
