Free sewing machines for visually challenged

Visually challenged persons, who have been trained in tailoring, can apply for the government’s free sewing machines.

According to a press release, the Differently Abled Welfare Department has been providing sewing machines for persons with orthopaedic and hearing impairment.

From 2016-2017, the scheme will also cover visually challenged persons.

18-45 years

Visually challenged persons aged 18 to 45 years and have been trained in tailoring can apply for the motor-fitted sewing machines.

The applications with full address can be submitted to the District Differently Abled Welfare Office, District Panchayat Office premises, Anna Salai, Vellore – 632 001.

Proof needed

They should submit photocopies of the differently abled national identity card, certificate for proof of training in tailoring and ration card along with the application, the release said.
