Cotton bags were also given to tourists

Distribution of free saplings and cotton bags to tourists marked the observance of Earth Day 2013 here on Monday.

Organised as part of the green initiative by Ind-Aussie Solar Private Limited in association with The Hindu, Collector K. Maharabushanam distributed free saplings to the public near the forest check-post on Yercaud Ghat Road.

He asked the public to plant saplings near their residences and also contribute for preserving the Nature. Free copies of The Hindu were also distributed to the public, along with cotton bags.

ARRS Schools and Appusami Hospital were the other partners in the initiative.

S. Selvaraj, District Revenue Officer, Sathish, Revenue Divisional Officer, Suresh, Tahsildar, S. Ravichandran, managing director, ARRS Group, G. Kannan, managing director, Ind-Aussie Solar Private Limited, Bala K. Palani, director, Engineer and Product Development, T.P.S. Sekar, director, Finance, were present.
