The body of a fisherman from Rameswaram was recovered at the shores near Pudukudi, a coastal village about 75 km from here, on Saturday.

A search team of the police personnel recovered the body of Marimuthu in a highly decomposed condition.

He was one of the four fishermen reported missing after they had ventured into sea from Rameswaram on April 2.

While the three bodies were recovered earlier, the body of Marimuthu could be traced only on Saturday. The identity of the body could not be established immediately. The relatives of the fisherman were summoned from Ramanathapuram for establishing the identity.

However, the police have collected the samples of the parts of the body for DNA test, according to S. Amsavalli, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Coastal Security Group, Pattukottai.

The body was buried at Pudukudi after post-mortem examination on the spot.
