Four-lane project

March 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:19 am IST

As per a National Highway survey, there are 20 geometrical curves from Madurai to Ramanathapuram, out of which 10 are between Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram alone. After the construction of the Indira Gandhi National Highway bridge at Pamban, highway traffic from Varanasi to Rameswaram has increased. Erwadi Dharga also contributes to traffic up to Ramanathapuram. Hence, the proposed four-lane project should be extended up to Ramanathapuram, instead of stopping it at Paramakudi.

Provide lift

Even though space for lift has been provided in the integrated court complex on the Collectorate complex in Ramanathapuram, it has been kept vacant.

Some of the courts are functioning on the first floor as well as floors further above, making senior lawyers as well as senior citizens and women climb up with difficulty.

It has been repeatedly represented and reminded that a lift should be provided as per provisions made in the original estimate. I would appeal to the Collector to bestow special attention to this issue and provide a lift in the court complex.

Asmabagh Anvardeen,

Ramanathapuram.

Medical college

There is a long-pending demand of the people for starting a medical college in Ramanathapuram, a backward and under developed district. The Ramanathapuram district headquarters hospital has got all facilities for accommodating a medical college.

Since it is a pro-people demand, a medical college is a necessity for students of the areas there is no other private or government medical college in the district. I request the Chief Minister to consider the proposal for setting up a medical college in Ramanathapuram.

G. Nagasamy,

Ramanathapuram.
