Four persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident near here on Sunday.
Police said the victims from Namakkal were travelling in a car when a private bus from Kumbakonam to Thanjavur collided with the car at Manankorai on the Thanjavur-Kumbakonam Highway on Sunday killing the four on the spot. Public and passersby rescued the victims and rushed them to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital where the injured were being treated. Traffic was held up in the narrow stretch for some time due to the accident.
