Four killed in bus-lorry collision near Ambur

The accident took place when the bus carrying devotees of Melmaruvathur Sakthi Peetam that started from Pazhayapettai near Krishnagiri was crossing Koothambakkam near Ambur.

Four persons were killed and 30 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling collided with a stationary granite-laden lorry on Thursday.

The accident took place when the bus carrying devotees of Melmaruvathur Sakthi Peetam that started from Pazhayapettai near Krishnagiri was crossing Koothambakkam near Ambur.

The lorry had suffered a breakdown.

The bus driver noticed the lorry a bit late and tried to avert a collision.

However, a portion of the bus hit the lorry. Bus cleaner Gokulan (30) and passenger Sathiyanathan (22) of Krishnagiri were killed on the spot.

The injured passengers were sent to different hospitals.

Of them, Kanyakumari (40) died on the way to hospital and Muthu (46) died in Government Vellore Medical College Hospital.

Others were undergoing treatment in hospitals.
