The police on Tuesday arrested a gang of four persons for burglary after they were found in possession of large number of house breaking instruments at Odian Salai here.
According to Superintendent of Police (North) N.T. Sivadasan, the four persons were in an auto filled with the house breaking equipment when the Sub Inspector of the local police station was on rounds.
Noticing their suspicious movements, the officer took them for questioning.
He said that during interrogation, the four confessed of having burgled two houses on Montorsier Street and Candappa Street when the owners were away.
The police have seized gold ornaments worth about Rs 5 lakh.
A case has been booked under section 457 and 380 of the IPC.
