Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Board Minister KR. Periakaruppan on Friday laid the foundation stone for two marriage halls on property belonging to Kapaleeswarar temple, Mylapore, and Marundeeswarar temple, Tiruvanmiyur.
Later talking to reporters, Mr. Periakaruppan said the Mylapore temple's property of 44 grounds on Pasumpon Mutharamalingam Road (Greenways Road), was lying unused. The halls would be constructed at a cost of Rs.9.20 crore.
Explaining about the marriage hall on the property belonging to Marundeeswarar temple, Tiruvanmiyur, Mr. Periakaruppan said at present the two old marriage halls in a dilapidated condition would be demolished. This marriage hall on the East Coast Road would have ground plus two floors and will be constructed at Rs. 9.23 crore.
