Fort city records 43 degree C

After the mercury soared to 43.5 degree Celsius on Monday, there was almost no let up in the sweltering heat in the fort city on Tuesday. The city recorded a temperature of 43.0 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

The warning of heat wave that came in on Monday left many residents in an apprehensive mood of whether they can go out during the day. In the afternoon, some of the main parts of the city such as the Green Circle wore a deserted look.

Light showers

There were light showers in parts of the district on Monday. During the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, Vaniyambadi received 1.3 mm of rain, Walajah recorded two mm, Gudiyatham one mm and Melalathur 3.6 mm.
