Former MLA dead

Former zamindar of Kadavur in Karur district and five-time Congress MLA K.K.G.Muthiah (89) passed away after brief illness here on Friday.

He is survived by his wife and three sons. Muthiah was first elected to the then Legislative Assembly of Madras in 1957 from Panjapatti constituency.

Subsequently, he represented Kadavur and Marungapuri Assembly constituencies. The veteran leader had also served as chairperson of the Kadavur panchayat union for three terms.

His body has been kept at Kadavur palace for the public to pay homage and the last rites would be performed on Saturday, according to his son Manoj Kumar.
