Former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA and party's Tirunelveli district secretary V. Karuppasamy Pandian has moved the Madras High Court Bench here seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered against him by the Tirunelveli police.

The police had booked Mr. Pandian under Sections 294 (b) (criminal intimidation), 354 (sexual harassment), 506 (i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act based on sexual harassment charges levelled by the daughter of a party functionary.

Mr. Pandian claimed in his petition that the complaint was registered with an ‘intention to damage his name and fame’. He denied the charges levelled by the complainant and claimed that the charges were fabricated due to personal motives within the DMK.
