Collector M. Ravikumar has asked administrators of colleges to form anti-ragging committees so as to prevent any incident of ragging students.

Correspondents, principals, wardens of hostels attached to colleges and faculty members attended a consultative meeting here on Wednesday.

The Collector who presided over, said such committees should be headed by principals of respective colleges. In a statement, he said the anti-ragging committee should have hostel wardens, professors and student representatives.

Flying squads headed by Sub-Collectors should also be formed in Revenue Divisions of Thoothukudi, Kovilpatti and Tiruchendur. It was essential that noticeboards highlighting the stringent punishments for those indulged in any act of ragging and contact phone numbers along with names of the ragging committee members should be placed at the entrance of all colleges, he said.

Toll free numbers – 1800 180 5522 and 1077 should be printed at the back of student identity cards.
