Focus on improving performance of govt. school students

A special review meeting on augmenting the performance of government school students in the forthcoming board exams for SSLC and Plus Two was held here on Wednesday.

Presiding over the meeting, Collector K. Vivekanandan said special CDs focussing on important lesson of the syllabus, will be provided to students by August.

The meeting held under the State Planning Commission’s States equitable Growth fund, elicited suggestions from teachers on improving the performance of government school students.

The focus of the meeting was to review the plan of action of schools to increase the performance of government schools in general and increase the number of students entering medical and engineering colleges from government schools. The review sought to engage new pedagogical tools to help retention of lessons for students in SSLC and Plus Two here.

Further as a follow up of the review of the previous month, some schools were o the opinion that video recording of classroom teaching on CDs would help improve the performance of the students through better retention. In its wake, Mr. Vivekanandan directed teachers to make available lessons that are seen are critical from the examination point of view on CDs as a ready reckoner.
