Having benefited from the Study Circle of the Employment Exchange here, a group of government employees have formed an exclusive body to guide candidates aspiring for various competitive examinations.

They have come forward to float a body ‘Pudukottai Study Circle Alumni’ to offer special week-end coaching to such candidates. A philanthropist Jayaraman has allotted a part of his building for organising the special classes from 10-00 a.m. to 5-00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The members of the Alumni including women, in all totalling 70, are employed in various departments across the state. About 10 of them are in Pudukottai who form the core group in organising the special classes. “We got our employment opportunity in the 90s thanks to the Study Circle of the Employment Exchange. As a thanksgiving exercise, we have volunteered to impart similar training to youngsters appearing for competitive examinations,” says B. Srinivasan, employed as Inspector in the Local Fund Audit Department here. He was a member of the Study Circle between 1998 and emerged successful in a competitive examination held a couple of years later.

Another member of the Alumni, Manimala from Coimbatore, says that although she could not make it every week-end, she would extend her all possible support to the needy candidates, particularly the poor students.

R. Suresh Kumar, presently Inspector of Income Tax department, said he was fully aware of the difficulties of the aspirants in preparing for the competitive examinations. He was a member of the Study Circle from 1996 till he got a job in a Central government department in 1998.

P. Suresh Kumar, former Regional Director of Employment, said the office-bearers of the Alumni would be elected in a week and it would function as a service-based registered body. In fact, the Alumni members had commenced coaching session. “The activities would be well organised for which it will function as a registered body,” he said.

Those interested can contact Mr. Suresh Kumar 94435-74653 or Mr. Srinivasan 97864-41417.
