First skywalk to link Chennai Central with GH

The first skywalk in Chennai will connect Chennai Central, Park Railway Station and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. It will come up at a cost of Rs.20 crore.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday announced various infrastructure projects to be implemented at a cost of Rs.109 crore to improve traffic and transportation in Chennai.

According to a press release, a bridge at the Jawaharlal Nehru Salai-Kaliamman Koil Street intersection near the CMBT in Koyambedu will be constructed. An additional three-lane bridge across Cooum will be built on Poonamallee High Road near Aminjikarai.

A two-lane bridge and widening of a bridge on Mount-Poonamallee-Avadi Salai, additional bridge on Singaperumalkoil-Sriperumbudur-Tiruvallur-Red Hills Road, a bridge on Karanodai-Minjur Road, a causeway on Tambaram-Mudichur-Sriperumbudur Road and another causeway on Kodambakkam-Sriperumbudur Road will also be constructed.

Five subways are also scheduled to come up.
