Fiat to bankers

May 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - DINDIGUL:

Collector Satyapradha Sahoo advised private van operators carrying cash to various ATM centres and bank branches to keep relevant documents.

Addressing a bankers’ meeting at the Collectorate near here on Wednesday, he said that as election model code was in vogue, EC guidelines should be followed without fail.

Bankers should ensure that money carried by them in their vans was only for filling ATMs and not for other purposes. Details on the quantum of cash meant for each ATM and for every branch should be with the transporting agency, he said.

The transporting staff should have their identity card. During inspection, the agency should be in a position to submit necessary records, he said.

Earlier, Mr. Sahoo along with observers and top police officers inspected the counting centre on the campus of Anna University Engineering College near Dindigul. (The special squad seized Rs.82 lakh from a bankers’ van a few days ago.)

Meanwhile, Expenditure Observer Chandra Prakash inspected the activities of flying squad at Vedasandur and advised them to follow the EC guidelines strictly.
