FCRI students bag top ranks in ICAR-JRF examinations

J.S. Jenishma, a student of Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.FSc) from Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI) has bagged the second rank in the All India Entrance Examination for admission to post graduate degree programme, (AIEEA-PG-2016). S. Kesavan, another student of FCRI, got first place in the reserved category at the All India level (ninth overall), and 11 others were qualified to receive the ICAR Junior Fellowship, according to a statement from G. Sugumar, Dean of FCRI, on Monday.

During this academic year (2015-16), a total of 13 students of FCRI had been qualified for the fellowship to pursue their Masters of Fisheries Science programme. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi conducts AIEEA for admission to masters degree programme in agriculture and allied sciences every year for 25 percent seats in Agriculture /Fisheries Universities. Students from fisheries colleges all over the country take up this examination to win the fellowship for doing their Masters programme in Fisheries Sciences. Dr. Sugumar congratulated the students and said winning ICAR Junior fellowship in the All India Entrance Examination has always been the dream of students pursuing B.F.Sc in fisheries colleges in India. By winning the fellowship especially, by being 2nd and 1st rankholders, the students of FCRI had brought laurels to the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, the Dean said.
