The Kanyakumari District Railway Users’ Association has urged the Southern Railways to extend Tiruchi – Tirunelveli inter-city express to Nagercoil.

In a memorandum to J. Helen Davidson, MP, its president S.R. Sree Ram has stated that a large number of people from different parts of the district travel daily to Tirunelveli, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigal and Tiruchi for employment, higher studies, business, to High Court Bench at Madurai, universities, and Passport Seva Kendras. They depend on buses since there are train services from Nagercoil to Madurai and Tiruchi only at 7.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. respectively. Hence, if the inter-city express is extended to Nagercoil, there will a good patronage to the service.
