Expenditure observers arrive in Kanyakumari

Three Expenditure Observers, two Special Expenditure Observers from Indian Revenue Service and one from Indian Audit and Accounts Service have arrived in Kanyakumari district to oversee the election expenditure incurred by the candidates here on Friday.

Expenditure observer has to oversee two constituencies each. The observers, their respective constituencies and their contact numbers are: M. Hiremath Basavaraj – Kanyakumari and Nagercoil – 08300023808; Rajesh Rama Rao – Colachel and Padmanabhapuram – 8300023804 and Aniruth Charan Singh – Vilavancode and Killiyoor – 8300023805.

The Special expenditure observers deputed for the district are Sunil Sharma and Sunita Singh both from Indian Revenue Service and B. Basantia from Indian Audit and Account Service (IA and AS).

On arrival, the observers addressed a review meeting at the Collectorate. The functioning of Static Surveillance Team and Flying Squad were reviewed in the presence of the District Election Officer, Sajjansingh R. Chavan.

Banking officials were advised to bring transactions of Rs. 10 lakh and above by any individual to the notice of the Election Commission. The observers inspected various registers maintained at the Election Control Room and Media Monitoring Cell (MMC) at the Collectorate.

Superintendent of Police G. Dharmarajan, District Revenue Officer S. Elango accompanied the officials.
