Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa on Friday told her party members in unmistakable terms that those who had been expelled from the party and caused suspicion, through their actions, to the leadership would never be forgiven.
Also, members of the party who believed words of such persons and acted accordingly would not be forgiven, Ms. Jayalalithaa said, addressing the party general council at a marriage hall in Vanagaram near here.
Though the very severe cyclonic storm ‘Thane' crossed the coast in the early hours of the day, a very large number of party members had turned up. In fact, there were a number of party members who had to remain outside the marriage hall.
Explaining characteristics of different types of politicians on expulsion from their parent party, she said that what one type did was to quit public life after realising their mistakes.
Another group of politicians would join some other party and there was nothing wrong in this. But, there were some persons, even after expulsion for having betrayed their party, who continued to claim that they would go back to the party, would again be influential and would punish those who now antagonised them.
Such persons would never be forgiven. Besides, those who went by their words would also not be forgiven.
“If we do not betray ourselves but remain united, I repeat what I have been saying: this force can conquer any force,” she said.
Urging party members not to be complacent after scoring victories in the elections to the Assembly and local bodies, the AIADMK leader advised them to start their work for the Lok Sabha elections.
The party was going to be in a position to decide who would be the next Prime Minister. In such a situation, the party would be able to defend rights of the State, without jeopardising the integrity of the country.
Thanking her party colleagues for their work in the Assembly elections, she asked them to be friendly with the party workers and accessible to people.
