Expedite disposal of petitions: Collector

Distribution of aid and settlement of grievances marked the public grievances day meeting at the Collectorate here on Monday, the second after the Assembly election.

Presiding over the meeting, Collector M. Vallalar advised officials to clear the petitions within 15 days from the date of receipt of them. Even reason for rejection of the petition could be informed to the public, he said.

Compensation was given to family members of government employees who died while in harness. Cheques for Rs.3 lakh were given to M. Usha Rani and R. Kannammal, the wives of the deceased employees. He also gave away cheques for Rs.50,000 each to family members of accident victims. The victims were Shanmuga Valli and Murugesan. The fund was granted from the Chief Minister's general relief fund.

At the meeting, officials who performed exceedingly well in two phases of census 2011 in the district were also honoured with merit certificates issued by the Director of Census K.S. Gopalakrishnan. The honoured officials were Municipal Commissioners R. Lakshmi, M.P. Murthy, and K. Rajan and Tahsildars P. Kumarasamy, R. Selvaraj, P. Munusamy, A. Muniandi, N. Varadarajan, S. Asokan, N. Chelladurai, N. Gunasekaran, S. Pichaimani and P. Viswanathan and J. Balasubramanian, R. Selvaraj, T. Malaisamy and C. Udayakumar.
