Eye catching handicrafts and handloom varieties of various north-eastern states worth more than Rs. 50 lakh have been displayed at ‘Purbashree’ north-east crafts festival exhibition in the city.

The exhibition has been brought up by North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited, sponsored by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Regional Council, Shillong.

Products

Cane and bamboo baskets, handicrafts, cane furniture, cane woven handicrafts, colourful woven textiles of the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mozoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tirupura are on display at the exhibition.

A discount of 20 per cent is offered on the handloom varieties and 10 per cent on the handicrafts. A similar exhibition held last year registered a sales turnover of Rs. 20 lakh and this year, the Corporation has fixed a sales target of Rs. 25 lakh, according to exhibition sources.

The exhibition is on at the Deiveegam Marriage hall till August 16.
