‘Excellence in sports can help youth get jobs’

Excellence in sports would fetch jobs for the educated youth in government and public sector organisations as well as in the corporate companies, said S. Mohan, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Boxing Association.

He was distributing medals and prizes to the winners of various events at the Annual Sports Meet of the Global Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIT) at Melvisharam recently.

Hema Prasad, chairperson of GIT, who inaugurated the meet, said that sports activities were essential for all-round development of the students, and it boosted their self-esteem.

Studies have shown that students participating in sports activities were more likely to have positive feelings of self-worth or self-esteem than those who are not very physically active. Physical activity also helped the students in improving their academic performance, she said.

R. Rajesh, Secretary, Vellore District Boxing Association, Ram Prasad, College Chairman, Thamizharasu, Principal and Satish and Raja, physical directors participated.
