Example of incompetence: Karunanidhi

February 21, 2014 02:01 pm | Updated May 18, 2016 09:54 am IST - CHENNAI:

The State government’s handling of the matter relating to the release of three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case was an example of how even a properly framed scheme would not come to fruition at the hands of incompetent people, as stated in ‘Tirukkural,’ the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, said on Thursday.

The DMK leader was replying to a query on the Supreme Court’s order on the petition filed by the Centre on Thursday following the State government’s decision to release the life convicts involved. The handling of the release of Santhan, Perarivalan and Murugan was an instance of what was conveyed in the Tamil couplet. But, the DMK had been unnecessarily dragged into the picture. He said when Nalini, one of the convicts, applied for a month’s leave, the government had rejected it.
