The Tamil Nadu Government has directed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to conduct an inquiry against former Chief Secretary P. Rama Mohana Rao, currently posted as Director, Entrepreneurship Development Institute.
The move follows a report of the Income Tax Department that organised simultaneous searches on the residential/office premises (at the Secretariat) of Mr. Rao and that of his son in December last year, DVAC sources said.
The report was based on the seizures made during the searches and the investigation that followed searches on the premises of sand mining baron Sekhar Reddy and his business associates.
“Income Tax officials have pointed to coded references in certain documents seized from Mr. Reddy and others. The government has asked us to initiate an inquiry into it, ” a DVAC officer told The Hindu on Friday.
