EVMs arrive at Thoothukudi

A total of 2,300 Electronic Voting Machines, which will be used in the forthcoming Assembly elections reached here on Thursday.

Inspecting the EVMs, Collector M. Ravikumar said 2,300 ballot units and 2,030 control units had arrived from Gujarat in seven container lorries under the supervision of nine officers designated for this purpose. Under strict vigil by the police, the EVMs had been kept in the Pudukottai union office.

“Apart from this, 1,550 ballot units and 750 control units will also arrive at Thoothukudi from Maharashtra,” Mr. Ravikumar said adding that the EVMs would be checked and calibrated by a team of qualified engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru.
