“When the BJP which had once only two MPs could rule the nation, the Congress which ruled Tamil Nadu till 1967 without any alliance will be able to bring back the Kamaraj rule by 2016, TNCC president E.V.K.S. Elangovan said on Sunday.

This was his response to a question on Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan terming joke Mr. Elangovan’s promise of restoring the Kamaraj rule. He said the Congress would become the ruling party in 2016, and without Congress support, no other party could form the government in the State.

Asked about the former Union Minister, Narayanasamy, urging the former Union Minister, G.K. Vasan, to return to the Congress, Mr. Elangovan said Mr. Vasan had already planned to launch a party.

Without giving details, he said young blood would be infused into the party.

Asked about parties trying to draw actor Rajnikanth to their side, Mr. Elangovan said Rajnikanth had a huge fan following, and his fans supported many parties. He should not narrow their political path by identifying himself with any particular party.

PTI adds:

“My sincere request to superstar Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan is not to enter politics and not get caught in the grip of political activities”, he said while speaking to mediapersons in Erode.

On Sunday, Rajnikanth >had said at the launch of the audio and trailer of his action-thriller ‘Lingaa’ that politics is dangerous and deep and he was not afraid of it, but hesitant. “In politics you need strong roots,” he had said.
