Establish yoga institute in Namakkal district, says MP

Member of Parliament from Namakkal constituency P.R. Sundaram has urged the Central Government to establish a Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy at Annaipalayam in the district.

Speaking during the ZeroHour in Parliament on Thursday, he said that he had spoken on the issue under Rule 377 earlier and the Minister for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) in his written reply said that the issue was discussed in the 18{+t}{+h}meeting of the Governing Body and accorded its in-principle approval to set-up three additional institutes.

The MP said that if there is land for more than 20 acres, setting up of the institute will be considered. Hence, 23.61 acre land is lying vacant in Annaipalayam village of Rasipuram panchayat union that can be earmarked for establishing the institute, he added.

He urged the government to establish an institute in the constituency.
