Escalators to be installed in six months

May 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - ERODE:

Two escalators and two lifts would be installed in Erode Junction within six months, Divisional Railway Manager Shubrahsnu said on Thursday after commissioning an automatic ticket vending machine at Erode Junction.

Erode Junction, he said, will have to cope with water shortage due to absence of flow in the Cauvery.

Responding to the request of C.S. Gowthaman of Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee, Mr. Shubranshu instructed officials to construct a step at the portico to prevent stumbling by the aged people and to block entry of water into the tunnel walkway leading to the platforms at time of rain.
