Elephant struggles for life

A female elephant was found struggling for life in a watery embankment of of Perumballam Dam in Gudiyalathur reserve forest area on Tuesday.

The elephant was noticed by the Forest Department watchers while it was moving around in the dam area in the morning hours.

The elephant apparently suffering from some internal infection was administered medicines, District Forest Officer, Sathyamangalam, K. Rajkumar said.

It was natural for elephants that sense their end to get close to water bodies, he said.
