A female elephant was found dead near Palar Porundhalar dam in Palani on Thursday.

A female elephant was found dead near Palar Porundhalar dam in Palani on Thursday.

A 40-year-old female elephant was found dead with deep injuries at Rangasamy Karadu in the reserve forests near Palar-Porundhalar dam on Thursday.

The animal had injuries on the forehead and stomach. Forest officials suspected that a male elephant might have killed her after mating. After post-mortem, the carcass was buried in the reserve forest.
