Faction feud between TNCC President E.V.K.S. Elangovan and senior leader P. Chidambaram seemed to continue unabated with the former making a veiled attack on the senior Congress leader.
Addressing party workers in Chennai, Mr. Elangovan said that many of them had worked tirelessly for the party expecting no favour. However, some had predicted that the party would lose in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, “but will queue up for a cabinet berth” if Congress wins, he said without naming anyone.
Mr. Elangovan’s swipe is suspected to have been directed at Mr. Chidambaram, even as supporters of both leaders are engaged in a war of words. Earlier, Mr. Elangovan had issued a show cause notice to Mr. Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram for forming a new initiative, G67, and had later suspended six loyalists of the former Union Finance Minister, but later revoked the same saying it was a temporary one.
Earlier this week, Chidambaram loyalists, including former MPs P. Vallal Peruman, K.S. Alagiri and former Chennai Deputy Mayor ‘Karate’ R. Thiagarajan had condemned the State unit media department in charge A. Gopanna for his remarks against their leader in a Tamil TV news channel.
