Applications are being processed for 64 services to be covered under the e-governance project in Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Ariyalur, Perambalur and Thiruvarur districts.

Information Technology Secretary PWC Davidar told presspersons here recently that 124 services in 10 Departments were selected for the project, based on the volume of public use of these services. Some of the applications were being developed by National Informatics Centre and some by private consultants. These would be ready in four months.

Some of the departments identified were social welfare, revenue, commercial taxes and backward classes. Orders had been placed for computers for the implementation of the applications in these districts and servers and connectivity were in place.
