Information Technology Secretary PWC Davidar told presspersons here recently that 124 services in 10 Departments were selected for the project, based on the volume of public use of these services. Some of the applications were being developed by National Informatics Centre and some by private consultants. These would be ready in four months.
Some of the departments identified were social welfare, revenue, commercial taxes and backward classes. Orders had been placed for computers for the implementation of the applications in these districts and servers and connectivity were in place.
On the Coimbatore Tidel Park, he said that one level would be ready for occupation by the end of this year. “Coimbatore is well placed and has a lot of potential,” he said.
There had been a lot of enquiries for occupation of space at the Tidel Park here. However, deals were yet to be clinched. Mainly the small and medium-scale units wanted to grow and consolidate.
The procedure for the allotment of space in the IT parks was being simplified and would be finalised in a month, he said.
