New branch declared open at Valangaiman in Tiruvarur district

P. Surya Prakash Rao, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Chennai Circle, declared open a new branch at Valangaiman in Tiruvarur district on Tuesday. This is the bank’s 998th branch in Chennai Circle that includes the whole of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. He launched the state-of-the-art video calling facility and a mini e-corner facility at the Thanjavur branch here on Tuesday. He visited the mega loan mela being organised by the SBI Regional Business Office in Thanjavur.

Mr. Rao said the SBI was extending the best of services, in particular to the rural populace, and donated a computer to a local government school under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

He interacted with customers on the implementation of the Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana in the region. He encouraged the business correspondents in the region to open more National Pension System accounts.

The video calling facility would help NRI customers from the NRE Cell to interact with the SBI staff regarding their banking requirements providing them with any time banking access in a live environment. It enriches their banking experience by conversing directly paving the way for risk-free transactions.

The e corner would cater to the needs of the local clients at a single point by having one ATM, an automatic passbook printing machine and a self-serving kiosk.

Deputy General Manager P. Sivakumar, Assistant General Manager Arunachalam Ganesan, Regional Manager V. Sadasivam were present.
