The Election Commission on Thursday rejected the request of the T.T.V Dhinakaran faction seeking more time to submit documents in the case of disputed Two-Leaves symbol.

The Commission had set a deadline of 29 September for all factions of the party laying claim to the symbol to submit affidavits from primary members to prove their strength.

“For deciding the dispute brought before the Commission, the Commission needs to look into the position as existing at the stage. It is for this purpose that the Commission has asked the two groups to make written submission and to file supporting documents,” EC’s letter to T.T.V Dhinakaran read.

The Commission decided not to allot additional time noting the deadline set by Madurai Bench of Madras High Court. The High Court wants EC to decide the case by 31st October.

The final hearing will be held on October 6 where both sides will be present to argue their case on why they are right claimants of the symbol.
