The Election Commission has rejected the DMK’s complaint seeking replacement of Salem Collector and Yercaud byelection Returning Officer K. Maharabhushanam as “allegations against him are not good enough to take action on the charges of his being biased.”

The DMK had not given any specific complaint or substantiated its charge with evidence to take action, a senior EC official told The Hindu . Prima facie no fault was found on the functioning of the Collector vis-à-vis election work, he said. The DMK has alleged that the Collector had supported violation of model code by AIADMK.
