Angered over the delay in a flight taking off, a passenger bound for Mumbai injured himself with a pen at the Chennai airport on Sunday morning. He was found to be drunk and was escorted out of the airport.

According to the police, Dileep Sha, 37, was scheduled to fly to Mumbai by flight AI 093. He had come to the airport and was waiting for the flight to make its scheduled departure at 9.10 a.m. When he learnt that the flight had been delayed by over two hours, he got agitated and shouted at the airline staff, sources said. He suddenly took out a pen and inflicted injuries on himself. He was treated at a hospital, where the doctors found him to be under the influence of alcohol, sources added.

The airline staff denied him entry into the aircraft as he was drunk.

As there was no major injury, the airline authorities and the police led him out of the terminal.
