Driver slits throat of realtor, nabbed

The police swung into action and arrested a person who tried to murder a patient at a private hospital in Palani near here on Thursday.

Ravi Raja of Shanmugapuram in Palani, who was into real estate business, was under treatment for diabetes at a private hospital. A person, who visited the hospital in the afternoon to meet him, suddenly slit his throat with a knife.

On hearing the cries of Mr. Ravi Raja, hospital staff rushed to his room. When they tried to catch hold of the assailant, he brandished a knife at them. Then he drove away Mr. Ravi Raja’s car.

On information, the police rushed to the hospital, checked the CCTV footage and found that the assailant was Chandru of Chennai, the victim’s car driver.

They passed on the details of the assailant and the stolen car to all check-posts on district borders. The police manning Dharapuram check-post nabbed Chandru and brought him to Palani for further investigation. He had enmity with Mr. Ravi Raja, the police said.
