Drive to combat diabetes

Three days before World Diabetes Day, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre on Saturday launched a public initiative, ‘Let’s Defeat Diabetes,’ aimed at educating people about the condition, a release said.

Among those who unveiled a website for the initiative and took a pledge to defeat diabetes were Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, Health Secretary J. Radhakrishnan, lyricist Vairamuthu, actor S. Ve. Shekher, actor Gautami, playback singer Sujatha Mohan, squash champion Dipika Pallikal along with doctors of the centre, chairman V. Mohan, Ranjit Unnikrishnan and R.M. Anjana. Three patients who have lived with diabetes for over 55 years were also felicitated on the occasion.

The interactive website, www.letsdefeatdiabetes. com will help individuals understand the condition better, seek information on changes that can be made to their lives to manage their condition, download expert videos etc.
