Drawing contest held

District Science Centre here organised a drawing competition on Sunday to commemorate India’s ‘First Satellite launch Day’.

To create awareness among students and the public of satellites and their uses, the DSC organised the drawing contest in different categories: for students of Standard I–III in the Little Junior category the topic was ‘Satellites’, for students of Std. IV–VI in Junior category the topic was ‘Indian Satellites’, and for students of Std. VII–IX in Senior category the topic was ‘Satellites and their applications’.

In the Little Junior section, S. Shivnaren Ganeshwar of Jayarajesh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thisaiyanvilai, K. Samithaa of Pushpalata British International School, Palayamkottai, and R. Vathsan of Bharat Vidya Mandir, Ilanji, bagged the first three prizes.

In the Junior category, G.E. Mercy of Jayarajesh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thisaiyanvilai, P. Pavithra of Kamalavathi Higher Secondary School, Sahupuram, and A. Sibi Susan of Bell Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai, won the first, second and third prizes respectively.

In the Senior category, D. Deepika of Pushpalata Vidya Mandir, Palayamkottai, R. Anusha of Jayarajesh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thisaiyanvilai, and S.S. Mohammed Junaid of Bharat Montessori Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ilanji, got the first three prizes.
