Double life sentence for murder

The Mahila Court here on Thursday sentenced 38-year-old Jayakumar of Sukkuvadanpatti to undergo double life imprisonment after convicting him in the case of rape and murder of a minor girl in 2009. According to the prosecution, an eight-year-old girl of Rathina Nagar here was reported missing by her father Murugan on June 11, 2009. When the Allinagaram police launched a search for the missing girl, her body was found in a septic tank at Sukkuvadanpatti. Post mortem revealed rape and murder of the girl. A case was filed in the Mahila Court on June 3, 2010. The Mahila Court judge, Thaniyarasu, sentenced Jayakumar to undergo double life imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs. 30, 000. He was lodged in the Madurai central prison.
