Double life for killing children

March 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:05 am IST - SALEM:

The Principal District and Sessions Court on Thursday sentenced Senthil (27), a handloom weaver of Tiruchengode, to two life sentences separately for murdering his two children.

There was some domestic dispute between Senthil and his wife Sangeetha. Enraged by this, Sangeetha separated from Senthil. However, the two children — seven-year-old Velmurugan and six-year-old Keerthivasan — continued to live with the father.

Senthil took both his sons in a two-wheeler to Mettur on August 27, 2012 and pushed them one by one into the Cauvery. Both the children drowned.

The Police arrested Senthil and filed a case in the District and Sessions Court.

The Judge D. Jayachandran found Senthil guilty of the charge and sentenced him to two separate life sentences — one life each for the murder of both the children.

However, the accused will undergo both the life sentences concurrently. The Judge also slapped a fine of Rs. 2,000 on Senthil.
