AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) leader O. Panneerselvam has written to the party cadre and requested them not to start welfare associations in his name and alienate him from the workers of the party.

‘Bounden duty’

“It has come to my notice that while we are on the path of dharma yuddham (fight for justice) and when we are getting the support of the people and the cadre, welfare associations are being started under my name. It does not make me happy,” the former Chief Minister said.

Mr. Panneerselvam said it would always be his bounden duty “to be a foot soldier of the movement and ensure that the promises of Amma (Jayalalithaa) are fulfilled.” He further stated that he understood that such associations were being started only because the party cadre had a lot of love for him.

“But even when I was the Chief Minister, I remained as the primary foot soldier of Amma, singing praises about her work. Not only me, but everyone should remain that way,” he exhorted the party cadre.

“It is my privilege to lead this sacred fight for justice, and that happiness is enough for me. Hence, do not start any association in any individual’s name, but ensure that the movement is strengthened so that no enemy or opposition party can destroy it,” the AIADMK (PTA) leader said.
