Do not waste milk: Collector

May 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - SALEM:

District Collector K. Maharabushanam asked farmers to supply the excess milk to government hostel students, and noon meal centres free of cost as a mark of protest instead of pouring it on the road.

Milk was used during auspicious occasions, and for performing abishekam in temples. The farmers should not denigrate their status by pouring milk on the ground. “You produced milk with much difficulty, and spending much. By destroying it, none will benefit,” he told the farmers. In many foreign countries, people express their resentment on various matters by producing more.

Similarly, here too farmers can attract the attention of the government, and all sections of society, by supplying the excess milk to the needy free of cost, he said.

Following the plea of the Collector, the farmers decided not to waste away the milk.
