DMK-Congress alliance strong: Thangkabalu

August 17, 2010 12:30 am | Updated 12:30 am IST - Coimbatore:

Ties between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress party are strong and none can spoil the same, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) chief K.V. Thangkabalu said here on Monday.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Thangkabalu said there was no confusion as perceived by the media.

Asked about the criticism of the State government by Congress functionaries, he said such views were not that of the party. He clarified that in his capacity as the TNCC president, he had duly discharged his duty by issuing a statement condemning such criticism. The Congress would always protect the “alliance dharma.” Regarding the views of some Congress leaders on seeking more seats and sharing power in the State, Mr. Thangkabalu said, “Such decisions will be taken by the AICC leadership.”
