DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Friday threatened to launch a jail-bharo agitation if the state government failed to resolve the water crisis in Chennai.

Leading an agitation in his Kolathur constituency, Mr Stalin said water was being supplied two or three days in a week and that was also not in good condition.

Sewage mixed

“People get water mixed with sewage. The government is duty bound to provide drinking water to the people. But the Tamil Nadu government is selling water for Rs 10. It is a shame,” he said.

Mr Stalin said even though the AIADMK government announced another desalination plant Nemmeli, the announcement has remained on paper.
